Kansas HB2748 amends the Protection from Abuse Act and the Protection from Stalking, Sexual Assault or Human Trafficking Act to increase the duration of initial protective orders and possible extensions. Under the Protection from Abuse Act, the court may extend a protective order for at least one additional year and up to the lifetime of the defendant if the defendant has violated a valid protection order, previously violated a valid protection order, or been convicted of a person felony.
