HB2693

Kansas HB2693 regulates swine waste application, setting setback distances and requiring specific application methods to prevent environmental harm.

Kansas HB2693 amends regulations on the application of swine waste, aiming to protect environmental and public health. The bill mandates that swine wastewater can only be applied using low-pressure drop nozzles or direct injection beneath the soil, with specific setbacks from property lines, roads, and sensitive areas like parks and wildlife refuges. It also requires contour buffer strips on slopes of 3% or greater to prevent runoff. The bill further stipulates that swine wastewater must not be applied under conditions that cause nuisances such as odors or contamination.
