Introduced Text

Kansas HB2665 modifies the process for terminating a rental agreement due to landlord noncompliance.

Kansas HB2665 amends the residential landlord and tenant act to change how a rental agreement terminates when a landlord materially breaches the agreement. If a landlord fails to comply with the rental agreement or health and safety laws, the tenant can notify the landlord in writing. The agreement will terminate on the next periodic rent-paying date at least 30 days after the notice, unless the landlord fixes the issue within 14 days. If the landlord makes a good-faith effort to remedy the breach within 14 days, the agreement does not terminate.
