HB2624

Authorizing the disorganization of a county fire district by the board of county commissioners when such district contains no territory.

Complete·3/23/26

Kansas HB2624 allows the disorganization of a county fire district if it contains no territory.

Kansas HB2624 amends the state's fire district laws to allow the board of county commissioners to disorganize a county fire district if it has no territory. The bill also modifies the process for altering the boundaries of a fire district by including or excluding lands. If a petition protesting the inclusion or exclusion of lands is filed by the owners of more than 19% of the area of the lands sought to be included or excluded, the resolution shall have no force or effect. The act repeals the existing section K.S.A. 19-3604 and takes effect upon publication in the statute book.
