HB2581

Kansas HB2581 allows animal shelters to transfer neonate animals needing care to foster homes and mandates displaying animal photos outside the.

Kansas HB2581 amends the pet animal act to authorize animal shelters to place neonate animals needing treatment or care in foster homes. It also requires shelters to display photographs of animals at a location other than the shelter during the holding period. This holding period is a minimum of three full business days, allowing the public to inspect and recover the animal. After this period, the shelter determines the animal's disposition, which may include release to the owner, transfer to a veterinary hospital, foster care, release as a gift, or euthanasia.
