HB2567

Kansas HB2567 establishes a safe battery collection and recycling program, prohibiting the sale of covered batteries unless the producer is part of.

Kansas HB2567, known as the Safe Battery Collection and Recycling Act, mandates that producers and retailers cannot sell covered batteries or battery-containing products unless the producer is part of a battery stewardship organization with an approved plan. The act requires battery stewardship organizations to submit plans to the Secretary of Health and Environment for approval, including provisions for collection sites, collection events, and recycling efficiency goals. The act also prohibits improper disposal of covered batteries and outlines responsibilities for waste facilities.
