HB2295

Kansas HB2295 provides state general funds for school meals programs and prohibits local boards from collecting money for such meals.

Kansas HB2295 amends the state's education law to provide reimbursements to local school boards for reduced price school meals from the state general fund. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, local boards will receive $.40 for each meal served under an approved reduced price school meals program. The bill prohibits local boards from collecting $.40 for such meals. Additionally, the funds cannot be used for the purchase of identifiable imported meats. The bill also repeals the existing section of the law and takes effect upon publication in the statute book.
