HB2240

Kansas HB2240 requires legislative approval for state agencies to seek or implement Medicaid waivers that expand coverage or increase state costs.

Kansas HB2240 mandates that any state agency must obtain explicit legislative approval before seeking or implementing a Medicaid state plan, state plan amendment, state demonstration, or waiver under sections 1115 or 1915 of the federal Social Security Act. This approval is necessary if the waiver expands coverage to additional individuals or increases costs to the state. The law also authorizes the Legislative Coordinating Council to act on agency requests when the legislature is not in session. This act applies to any amendment or waiver program implemented after July 1, 2025.
