Introduced Text

Kansas HB2194 exempts teachers who retire and are rehired by school districts from employer contributions to the Kansas Public Employees Retirement.

Kansas HB2194 amends the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) to exempt certain retired teachers who are rehired by school districts from employer contributions. Specifically, teachers who retire and are subsequently employed by a school district in a position requiring a teaching certificate will not have their employer, the school district, contribute to KPERS. This exemption applies to the first $40,000 of the teacher's annual compensation, with a 30% contribution on any amount exceeding $40,000.
