Kansas HB2076 amends the state's child care code to limit the number of days a child can be placed in a secure facility. Effective July 1, 2025, the authorization to place a child in a secure facility expires after a set number of days, inclusive of weekends and holidays. The court can no longer extend this authorization. The bill also repeals the existing section K.S.A. 38-2260 and replaces it with new provisions regarding court orders, hearings, and placement of children in secure facilities.
