Kansas HB2055 amends state law to require the governor to appoint a person of the same political party as the previous state treasurer or commissioner of insurance to fill a vacancy in those offices. If the previous office holder was not registered with any political party, the governor must appoint a suitable person. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate. The bill also repeals existing sections of state law related to these appointments.
