Kansas HB2003 establishes a road repair tax on electricity distributed from public charging stations for electric vehicles.
Kansas HB2003, known as the EV energy equity road repair tax act (EVEERRT act), imposes a tax on electricity distributed from public charging stations for electric vehicles. The tax, set at $0.09 per kilowatt-hour, aims to fund road construction and repair, mirroring the motor fuel tax law. Owners of public charging stations must collect and remit the tax to the director of taxation, who then deposits it into the state highway fund.
