Regional transit districts can now be formed by six counties and participating cities without a population threshold.
This bill allows six counties and participating cities to create a regional transit district through a chapter 28E agreement, regardless of the population of the counties involved. Previously, at least one county had to have a population over 175,000. Cities without an urban transit system can opt out of participating in the district. The district will support passenger transportation through public transit systems.
