This bill allows for the waiver of preplacement investigations and reports in certain adoption proceedings.
This bill modifies the conditions under which a preplacement investigation and report can be waived in adoption proceedings. It allows a juvenile court or court to waive these requirements if the adoption petitioner is related to the person to be adopted within the fourth degree of consanguinity. Additionally, if the petitioner is the current legal guardian for the person to be adopted and has been so for the thirty-six consecutive months immediately preceding the filing of the adoption petition, a waiver may also be granted.
