Iowa SF82 amends election requirements for school district bonds over $5 million.
Iowa SF82 modifies the election process for bonds issued by school districts in anticipation of revenue from the SAVE fund. The bill mandates that school districts submit the question of bond issuance to voters if the bond amount is $5 million or more. Currently, such bonds are subject to an election only upon receipt of a petition. Additionally, the bill requires a 60 percent approval from voters for any bonds submitted to an election. The notice requirements for these elections are governed by Code section 39.5.
