Iowa SF75 mandates special elections for county supervisor representation plans and changes how vacancies are filled.
Iowa SF75 requires counties with a population of 125,000 or more, or those with a state-governed higher learning institution, to use plan "three" for county supervisor elections. This plan mandates individual supervisors be elected from single-member districts. Counties not currently using plan "three" must adopt it by the 2026 general election. The bill also changes the timing of special elections for selecting representation plans to November instead of August.
