Iowa SF58 mandates that school districts, accredited nonpublic schools, charter schools, and innovation zone schools provide free breakfasts and lunches to students with family incomes at or below 300% of the federal poverty level for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, the eligibility expands to include students with family incomes at or below 400% of the federal poverty level. Beginning July 1, 2027, the program extends to all students regardless of family income.
