Iowa SF271 amends voting membership rules on joint 911 service boards. It grants voting membership to political subdivisions within the county with a public safety agency serving the area. Political subdivisions outside the county with a public safety agency operating within the area receive nonvoting membership. Private safety agencies and political subdivisions without a public safety agency in the county also receive nonvoting membership. Townships contracting for public safety services are not entitled to membership, but their contractors are.
