This bill amends health insurance coverage provisions for surviving spouses and children of deceased fire fighters and peace officers, and for disabled or injured fire fighters and peace officers. It mandates that employers who have procured accident or health care coverage for their employees must provide such coverage for the surviving family of an eligible peace officer or fire fighter for 24 months following the date of death. The employer must pay the full premium for this coverage.
