Iowa HSB754 amends the Code to exempt local contractors and fiber optic network companies from paying an administrative fee for applying for an easement to install fiber optic cable. The governing body of a drainage or levee district, such as a county board of supervisors or board of trustees, cannot charge this fee to businesses primarily operating locally as contractors or fiber optic network companies. The drainage district may publish a list of exempt businesses. The bill takes effect upon enactment.
