Iowa HSB669 allows raising, guiding, and instructing a child in a manner consistent with the child's sex.
Iowa HSB669 amends state code to allow individuals to raise, guide, and instruct a child in a manner consistent with the child's sex. This includes referring to the child by titles or pronouns consistent with the child's sex, seeking and consenting to mental health services for the child to live a life consistent with the child's sex, making mental health or medical decisions based on the child's sex, and declining to consent to gender transition procedures for the child. The bill also exempts these actions from the definition of child abuse and child endangerment.
