This bill specifies the venue for trials of certain criminal offenses based on the victim's residence or the charged person's residence.
This bill amends the place of trial for certain criminal offenses. If the county where the offense occurred is unclear, the trial will be held in the victim's county of residence. If there is no victim, the victim is not a state resident, or the victim's residence cannot be determined, the trial will occur in the county where the person charged with the offense resides. If the victim is not a natural person, the trial can be held in any county where the victim has a physical presence.
