Iowa HSB34 mandates that school districts, nonpublic schools, charter schools, and innovation zone schools incorporate pregnancy and fetal development topics into their human growth and development and health curriculum for students in grades 7 through 12. The curriculum must include human biology related to pregnancy, human development inside the womb, a high-definition ultrasound video showing early fetal development, and a computer-generated rendering or animation depicting the process of fertilization and fetal development stages.
