Establishes pediatric palliative care centers for terminally ill children.
The bill defines pediatric palliative care centers as residential care facilities serving individuals under 21 years old with chronic, life-threatening illnesses. These centers provide respite care and hospice services. They can serve up to twelve hospice patients at a time, include volunteers, and have registered or licensed practical nurses on-site. The bill exempts these centers from certain requirements and allows them to be eligible for funding. The Department of Health and Human Services must adopt rules for these centers. The bill is named Mason’s Law.
