Iowa HF884 authorizes school districts, charter schools, and innovation zone schools to employ chaplains or engage volunteer chaplains to provide support, services, and programs for students. The boards of directors of these schools may establish qualifications, credentialing, and other requirements for chaplains, but chaplains need not have a license or certification from the board of educational examiners. The bill prohibits schools from requiring or coercing students to utilize chaplain services.
