Eligibility for special registration plates with a veteran emblem expanded to include all reserve force members discharged honorably.
The bill expands eligibility for special registration plates with a veteran emblem to include all members of the reserve forces of the United States or the Iowa National Guard who were discharged under honorable conditions, regardless of the number of years served. Previously, eligibility was limited to those who served at least 20 years or were activated for federal duty for a minimum of 90 days. The special plates are subject to approval by the Department of Transportation and fees collected are deposited in the road use tax fund.
