Iowa HF640 regulates self-storage facilities by defining acceptance of rental agreements and handling defaults.
Iowa HF640 amends the Code to clarify that if an occupant takes possession of a leased space or retains personal property, failure to execute and deliver a written rental agreement within 30 days constitutes acceptance of the terms. If an occupant is in default or the operator does not renew the agreement, the operator must notify the occupant to remove personal property within 15 days. During this period, the operator may restrict access to the leased space to office hours if specified in the rental agreement.
