This bill amends the public records law to require the lawful custodian of public records to promptly acknowledge a request, provide an estimated response date and fee estimate, and inform the requester of any expected delays. The custodian must also provide contact information for their authorized designee. The custodian may require payment of reasonable expenses, but must make every reasonable effort to provide the record at no cost other than copying costs for records that take less than thirty minutes to produce.
