Iowa HF392 expands the eligibility for a year-round school calendar to include students in grades nine through twelve. Previously, only students in prekindergarten through grade eight were eligible. School districts and accredited nonpublic schools must apply to the Department of Education for authorization, with initial applications due by November 1 of the preceding school year. The bill also requires a public hearing before submitting an application. Effective date is July 1, 2025.
