Iowa HF2332 revises criminal penalties for feticide and elective abortion. The bill removes the requirement that a person must have knowledge and voluntary consent of the pregnant person after the end of the second trimester of the pregnancy to be convicted of feticide or attempted feticide. It increases the penalty for feticide from a class “C” felony to a class “A” felony. The bill also increases the penalty for attempted feticide from a class “D” felony to a class “B” felony. The bill takes effect upon enactment.
