Iowa HF2062 eliminates the requirement for property owners to submit a written protest to challenge a proposed change in a zoning district. Currently, if a written protest is filed by the owners of 20 percent or more of the area of the lots included in the proposed change, the change cannot become effective unless approved by at least three-fourths of the city council. The bill repeals Code section 414.5, which previously allowed for this protest mechanism.
