Iowa HF113 authorizes small school districts to use certain funds for general purposes.
Iowa HF113 allows small school districts with a budget enrollment of 200 students or less for three consecutive years to use unencumbered and unobligated funds from the physical plant and equipment levy fund and the public education and recreation levy fund for any school district general fund purpose, excluding salaries and benefits. The use of these funds must be approved by at least 60% of the voters in an election. The bill also permits these districts to adopt a new revenue purpose statement for up to five years, subject to the same voter approval requirement.
