This resolution honors Coach James Blackmon, Sr. for his retirement from Marion High School basketball. Blackmon holds the longest consecutive tenure and the second-winningest record among Marion Giants basketball coaches. He led the team to a Class 3A state championship in 2016 and multiple sectional, regional, and semi-state championships. Blackmon also coached Fort Wayne Bishop Luers High School to state championships in 2008 and 2009. His legacy includes renaming the playing floor at the University of Kentucky and being inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
