Indiana SJR0011 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to establish the initiative and referendum processes. The initiative allows voters to propose and vote on constitutional amendments. The referendum allows voters to approve or reject statutes or parts of statutes enacted by the General Assembly. If an initiative or referendum is approved by a majority vote, it takes effect unless it requires funding, in which case it waits until funding is provided. The General Assembly can amend or repeal statutes created or amended by a referendum.
