Indiana SCR0004 urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a portion of I-69 North beginning at mile marker 233 the "Gregg Winters Memorial Mile" in honor of Gregg William Winters, a lifelong Muncie resident and police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Gregg Winters, born in 1958, graduated from Southside High School and worked for Wise's Food Market and Motion Industries before joining the Muncie Police Department. On December 28, 1990, he was shot and killed while transporting an arrestee.
