Employees must provide at least 30 days' notice before taking the leave. Employers cannot require employees to use other leave before taking this leave, but they can require substitution of earned paid leave, excluding medical or sick leave. Employers are also prohibited from retaliating against employees for taking this leave. The law does not restrict employers from offering more than 30 days of leave or paid leave.
