Indiana SB0189 prohibits health carriers from charging administrative fees to providers for out-of-network care.

Indiana SB0189 amends the state's insurance laws to prohibit health carriers from assessing administrative fees to health provider facilities or providers for care involving out-of-network providers. If a health carrier violates this provision, the insurance commissioner must impose a civil penalty equal to double the amount of the assessed fee. The penalty collected will be deposited in the Department of Insurance fund.
