SB0134

Speed control in school zones.

Introduced·1/5/26
Intr Text

Indiana SB0134 establishes a school zone speed control program using photographic devices to enforce speed limits.

Indiana SB0134 creates a school zone speed control program to enforce speed limits in school zones. It allows counties and municipalities to adopt ordinances using speed control systems to detect violations. These systems must record vehicle speeds, obtain clear images of the vehicle and license plate, and indicate the date, time, and location of the violation. A police officer must review the recorded image before issuing a notice of violation. The owner of the vehicle is liable for the violation unless they can prove they were not the operator or the vehicle was stolen.
