Indiana SB0108 expands the definition of "shelter" to include any safe, decent, and sanitary dwelling accommodation determined by township trustees.

Indiana SB0108 amends the definition of "shelter" to include any other form of dwelling accommodation that the township trustee determines is safe, decent, and sanitary. This change applies to the purposes of IC 12-20 and will be effective July 1, 2026. The bill modifies the criteria for what constitutes a shelter, expanding beyond traditional housing types to include any accommodation deemed suitable by local authorities.
