Indiana SB0012 amends the Indiana Code to prohibit the use of ranked choice voting in elections. This bill defines ranked choice voting as a system where voters rank candidates in order of preference and ballots are counted in multiple rounds until a candidate receives a majority. The bill prohibits elections from being determined by this method and also prohibits candidates from being nominated or elected through ranked choice voting. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2026.
