Honoring the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., a prominent civil rights leader.

This resolution honors Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., a Baptist minister and civil rights leader who passed away on February 17, 2026. Jackson was a two-time U.S. presidential candidate and a leader in the modern Civil Rights Movement. He worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and served with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Jackson directed Operation Breadbasket in Chicago, promoting economic justice. He served as the first shadow senator for the District of Columbia and was appointed as Special Envoy for the Promotion of Democracy in Africa.
