Repeals involuntary firearm removal process in Indiana.
Indiana HB1375 repeals provisions concerning the confiscation and retention of firearms from a dangerous person, the compilation and publication of statistics related to the confiscation and retention of firearms from a dangerous person, and the making of a false report that a person is dangerous. Effective July 1, 2026, the bill removes the process for courts to issue warrants to seize firearms from individuals deemed dangerous, mandates the return of firearms to individuals found not dangerous, and eliminates the requirement for law enforcement agencies to retain firearms from individuals.
