Indiana HB1371 mandates unique background colors for driver's licenses, learner's permits, and identification cards for certain individuals.
Indiana HB1371 amends the Indiana Code to require the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to apply a unique background color to driver's licenses, learner's permits, and identification cards issued after December 31, 2026. This applies to individuals who are aliens with lawful status or are not registered to vote at the time of issuance. All other aspects of these documents must remain the same as typical versions. The bureau must also notify individuals who were previously issued such documents and subsequently register to vote that they are eligible for a new document.
