Indiana HB1265 allows counties to impose a surcharge on entrance fees for state parks and recreation areas.

Indiana HB1265 amends the Indiana Code to allow county fiscal bodies to impose a surcharge on entrance fees for state parks and recreation areas. The surcharge, which cannot exceed $2, is intended to support first responders and infrastructure improvements. The Department of Natural Resources is required to collect the surcharge and report it to the county treasurer. The surcharge does not apply to veterans, active-duty military personnel, individuals aged 65 and older, or holders of annual passes and their immediate family members. Effective July 1, 2026.
