Exempts antique firearms from handgun sale, rental, trade, or transfer requirements.

Indiana HB1221 amends the state's criminal law to exempt antique firearms from certain handgun sale, rental, trade, or transfer requirements. Specifically, it excludes items defined as antique firearms under federal law from the need for a dealer to obtain a completed and signed Form 4473, and to contact the National Instant Criminal Background Check System for a background check. This change takes effect on July 1, 2026.
