Indiana HB1198 amends the Indiana Code to add a new chapter on single-sex public restroom trespass. It makes it a Class B misdemeanor for a male to enter a female restroom or a female to enter a male restroom, knowingly or intentionally. It defines "female" and "male" based on biological sex and chromosomes. It also provides defenses for those under 12 who enter a restroom with a parent, guardian, custodian, teacher, or babysitter. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.
