Indiana HB1147 amends the Indiana Code to change the educational requirements for individuals seeking to become licensed as certified public accountants. Effective July 1, 2026, a first-time examination candidate must have at least 120 semester hours of college education with an accounting concentration or a baccalaureate degree with an accounting concentration. Effective January 1, 2027, a candidate for initial licensure must have 150 semester hours of college education and a baccalaureate or higher degree in accounting. The board determines the acceptability of educational programs.
