Indiana HB1137 prohibits schools from serving or selling ultraprocessed foods and beverages on school property during school hours.

Indiana HB1137 mandates that public schools participating in federally funded meal programs cannot serve, sell, or allow third-party vendors to sell ultraprocessed foods and beverages on school property during school hours. Schools must also post breakfast and lunch menus with ingredient lists on their websites. Ultraprocessed foods and beverages are defined as those containing specified ingredients. The bill allows fundraising sales of these items after school hours. It does not prevent parents from providing such items to their children during school hours. Effective July 1, 2026.
