Indiana HB1121 requires law enforcement agencies to administer drug and alcohol tests to officers involved in shootings immediately after the incident. The testing must occur as soon as practicable but no later than the end of the officer's shift or workday. Each agency must adopt protocols for this testing. The bill defines "officer-involved shooting" as any instance where a law enforcement officer discharges their firearm, causing injury or death, in the line of duty. Effective July 1, 2026.
