The bill establishes the Hoosier homeless veteran initiative to provide homeless veterans with access to temporary shelter during their rehabilitation. The initiative is coordinated by the Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs in consultation with the Indiana Department of Health. Homeless shelters with at least 25 beds must reserve one bed for every 25 beds for a homeless veteran. Homeless veterans who are not married can apply to become participating veterans, eligible for placement in participating shelters.
